I bought my piece of paradise in 1974 on the Colorado River, for $8,000.00. It is worth a little more now. My children and grandchildren all lived in the tiny cabin to take advantage of summer and holiday jobs. They loved the time in the mountains and meeting new friends. One big rock in the river is the family "council rock" where important family decisions are made. I really did not buy a cabin, I bought a family heritage. The moose love it too.

Memoirs of Spring Splash

The close of the Winter Park Ski Resort brings with it the infamous "Spring Splash"

When have you ever seen a person dressed up like a hula dancer or in hot pink ski pants, ski down the mountain, through a sea of pool-noodle obstacle courses and launch themselves into a pool of freezing snow runoff for fun? Let's not forget that this ski adventure would also be done for time and in front of hundreds of spectators. Yes, this event is real. Yes, you can participate, and yes you could mark yourself a claim to fame in Winter Park, Colorado by winning this annual event. Here's a teaser photo

Women in Grand County organized our Wed Nite Mtn Bike ride back in 1990 and I am proud to be one of the founding members! We have been meeting every Wednesday and our groups range from 3 to 30 riders who show up to enjoy our miles of biking trails. During the winter months, we meet to snowshoe, cross country ski or downhill ski. Checkout our facebook page Grand County Womens-Mountain-Bikers.

I love how the community of Grand Lake comes together and puts on great events every summer and makes the village shine! One event in particular that is very special to me is the Grand Lake's Bluegrass Festival formally known as the Fall Festival. I've come to know several of the vendors and many of the Denverites who visit every year. This is just one of the great events, but it is most special to me because this is where I met my husband back in 2001.
